(29 Nov 2013) DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE ATTENDS GLAMOROUS CHARITY BALL
Britain's Duchess of Cambridge celebrated some of the most promising Olympic and Paralympic talent on Thursday, as she attended a SportsAid fundraising dinner in central London.
Kate - patron of the charity - presented the "One-to-Watch" award to Amber Hill, 16, who already competes with the senior British shooting team and is ranked fifth in the world.
This year at the World Championships in Peru she broke a junior world record with a score that equalled the senior world record.
The "One-to-Watch" award honours young British sportsmen or women who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to their sport and career.
Among the other guests at the black-tie event on Thursday night was former British Paralympic wheelchair racer Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson.
Dame Tanni recently became a SportsAid trustee.
SportsAid is a charity which gives young athletes a financial boost and other practical help as they emerge on the international stage.
