The Marimurtra Botanical Garden, is considered the best Mediterranean botanical garden in Europe [citation required] with about 16 hectares of extension. Located in the municipality of Blanes, province of Gerona, in the community of Catalonia, Spain. It is located on the mountain and has impressive views over the Mediterranean Sea. Its name comes from the attempt to combine these various existing ecosystems in the same garden.
The land was an acquisition of its founder Karl Faust. Dedicated to the business world, from a young age he kept the naturalistic interest that led him to buy land in Blanes from 1918. When he turned 50, in 1924, he left his managerial occupations and devoted himself fully to the formation of the botanical garden.
