A race isn't over until you cross the finish line (if there isn't some sort of post-race drama). Jack Brabham seemingly had the 1970 Monaco GP in his hand despite Jochen Rindt catching up quickly behind, until he locked up and crashed at the very last corner of the race (Then called Gazomètre or Gas Station hairpin. Nowadays is where La Rascasse is located).
This was so unexpected that Jochen Rindt didn't receive the checkered flag at first, since they were expecting Brabham to come out first. Brabham, with a damaged nose would still claim 2nd place.
History would repeat itself two months later in the British GP, where Jack Brabham would lose the race in the last lap to Jochen Rindt again.
