Due to heavy rains, a massive landslide hit Irshalwadi, a tribal village located on a hill slope in the coastal area of Maharashtra’s Raigad district, on Wednesday night. The next day, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team started rescue operations. 16 people lost their lives. The NDRF team continued its search and rescue operation on Thursday. The search operation was suspended around 6 p.m. on Friday due to heavy rains. Four NDRF teams and other agencies resumed the operation on Saturday. Today, the death toll rose to 22. 119 people are still under the debris. The rescue teams are still on the job.
