Have you wondered how much to charge for your out of state long distance moves? Well I am going to share with you my secret formula that I used to price my out of state moves before I knew better.

If you can, you should get yourself using a tariff. It's better for you. Better for your customer and it's better for the industry.

But let's be honest, there are some of you that aren't using a tariff because you either don't know what it is, or you are just not up to that level yet.

Look...I get it.

You have to hustle to get the moves, and just moving the 1 or 2 bedroom local moves isn't getting you the cash or the profit you need.

You need to start doing the long distance, out of state moves to make it rain. So you have to learn how to charge for these long distance moves.

When I first started i would add up all my expenses then I would either double or triple that figure to get my flat rate charge for the out of state move. For example my expenses would be $800 I would give the customer the flat rate of $2400.

That would be a deal most of the time...

I was still making great money at the time, but it left a lot of money that I could have been charging on the table.

So I came up with another formula that helped me get what I needed and still be competitive with the van line companies.

I would charge between $1500 to $2000 per day for a 26ft truck and 2 men.

If I had to go to let's say Tampa Bay then I'd charge $6000 for the move.

This might be a little higher than the van line movers but I would also sell the customer on the fact that this is guaranteed delivery date of 2 days, and that this is an express premium service.

I do lose some, but I get enough to make it worthwhile.

Of course now I use a tariff which is set up for profit. And you should too, but if you can't just yet this simple formula will make you the right amount of money doing your long distance, out of state moves.
