In June 2019 Swansea University, in partnership with Swansea Council and Gower College, ran a three-week course for young people to gain pre-apprenticeship experience of working in specialist heritage and historic building conservation work. Ran by Dr. Alex Langlands and Gareth Thomas (Swansea University), with Nathan Goss (Nathan Goss Conservation), the program offered introductory experience in a range of traditional methods. It was great fun and we are delighted to have seen a number of the participants progress, for some into education and for others to apprenticeship work. Generously sponsored by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
