We report from the Adidas Rockstars event in Stuttgart, Germany on Saturday (24th September) where 17-year-old Janja Garnbret of Slovenia and Japan's Tomoa Narasaki made mincemeat of their climbing opposition.
Here's a hint of things to come in Tokyo 2020 when Sport Climbing appears on the Olympic programme for the first time ever.
This competition you're seeing here is the Adidas Rockstars event in the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart which was filled to near-4000 capacity on Saturday (24th September) night to watch 72 top class athletes from 22 countries take part in an indoor bouldering event.
Each athlete tackled a series of routes - or 'problems' - up a 20-foot wall, increasing in difficulty as the night moved on.
In the women's event, Janja Garnbret of Slovenia was up against Austria's Jessica Pilz.
Both failed to solve the 'problem' in the super-final before 4 minutes were up, so they climbed on. And eventually it was Garnbret who reached the top and hit the buzzer.
The 17 year-old added the Rockstars title to the World Championship Gold she won last week in Paris.
In the men's super-final Japan's Tomoa Narasaki took less than 30 seconds to tackle the problem and and beat Germany's Jan Hojer. But the home crowd gave the German an ovation nonetheless.
Miho Nonaka of Japan and South Korea's Jongwon Chon finished third in the women's and men's events, respectively.
