The Belgian label Sound Avenue has been one of 2011s most pleasant surprises.

The label was launched in July of this year with Mitrinique's 'Earthbound' and only six months and four releases later Sound Avenue has built a reputation for releasing fresh and modern sounding progressive house from some of the most cutting producers around that is routinely championed by Hernan Cattaneo. Greek producer Nikko Z has appeared on Sound Avenue once before with his remix of Sound Process' 'Simple Chords' and for the labels fifth overall release he returns with his first original entitled 'L.A' which comes with remixes from: Sound Process, Mitrinique and Andy Arias. Nikko's 'L.A' original certainly ranks right up there with the Greek producers most accomplished productions. It's a smooth, atmospheric and remarkably drummy groove with a very sophisticated feel. The wavering vocal pad that gradually opens up over the first half of the mix builds some subtle tension towards the break. Here a brief and unbelievably gorgeous melodic interlude comes to life before one of the coolest groove's we've heard all year punches back in for a smooth and exhilarating finish. Definately one of Nikko's best to date.
Juan Goya aka Sound Process follows up his outstanding 'Simple Chords' for Sound Avenue and provides the first interpretation of 'L.A'. Juan has taken all the great drummy elements from Nikko's original and created an equally killer groove but with the addition of some lovely soft stabs and well textured pads has given the piece and altogether deeper vibe. A great set of melodic keys and some rolling chord changes have also given the composition a much more musical vibe as well. A great compliment to the original from Juan!
Sound Avenue label bosses Dominique Heyninck and Dimitri Chantzis aka Mitrinique return to their own imprint and provide the second interpretation of 'L.A'. Mitrinique have built a solid fan base with their stripped and ultra refined borderless sound. Their 'L.A' remix is a brilliant slice of futuristic sounding tech house, a peeled groove which focuses on a few key elements namely a big set of bass stabs and bleepy sounding electronics that bounce off each other perfectly to tighten an already rock solid groove. Fabulous work from Mitrinique.
Closing the package out is another Argentinean producer who has grown leaps and bounds this year. Andy Arias began 2011 with just 3 productions credits but with appearances on Stripped, Aegypia, Low Battery and Sound Avenue over the last twelve months Andy has become one of the best up and coming production talents in Argentina. Andy's 'L.A' interpretation is currently #1 in our Hype Chart and it's not hard to see why. With a throbbing, bassy groove that's accented by some spaced out - gated electronics and a thick hazy atmosphere this monster has turned out to be one of Andy's best productions to date. 2012 is shaping up to be a huge year for Sound Avenue with originals and remixes already scheduled from Petar Dundov, Lank, Eelke Kleijn, Facundo Mohrr, Luis Bondio, Doppler Muzik and others, can't wait to see what the new year brings from this outstanding imprint.Release Promo Hype Chart #1
