(8 Nov 2015) Polling stations closed and officials started counting votes on Sunday evening in Croatia's parliamentary election.
Turnout was at 46.6 percent of the 3.8 million strong electorate two and a half hours before polls closed, higher than during the last general election in 2011 when a leftist coalition won.
In Sunday's vote - the Balkan country's first since joining the European Union in 2013 - the ruling centre-left coalition faced a strong challenge from a conservative opposition block.
First official preliminary results are expected at 10 p.m (2100 GMT).
