Services on this Tramlink route operate every 10 minutes for most of the day which when combined with the Elmers End to Wimbledon service form a 5 minute service frequency between Arena and Wimbledon. Between Sandilands and Church Street there are also New Addington services around every 7-8 minutes meaning services on this section operate up to every 2-3 minutes. Services in the opposite direction take a few more minutes due to one way Croydon loop. George Street and Church Street are only served on westbound Wimbledon services as services from Wimbledon going eastbound stop at Reeves Corner, Centrale, West Croydon and Wellesley Road instead.
This route on the Tramlink opened with the rest of the Network in 2000, it has not been extended since. This route mostly uses former railway alignments between Wimbledon and Wandle Park and from Addiscombe to Beckenham Junction with on street running around the Croydon area and from East Croydon to Sandilands. Between Birkbeck and Beckenham Junction this route runs alongside the National Rail Southern served line. This route is mostly double track throughout with the Birkbeck to Beckenham Junction section single track with passing loops. Around Mitcham there is a short interlaced track section and although the route between East Croydon and Church Street is single track the loop means all services operate in the same direction on this section. At Beckenham Junction, Birkbeck, East Croydon, West Croydon (eastbound only), Mitcham Junction and Wimbledon there are National Rail connections with London Underground District line connections possible at Wimbledon.
Like the other Tramlink routes both the older Bombardier CR4000 2 section trams and the newer Stadler Variobahn 5 section trams operate on all services with no Tramlink services being served by only one or the other of these 2 tram types.
