The Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS) and the SFU COVID-19 Coalition (C19C) is hosting a Town Hall to discuss the SFU community’s collective response to the pandemic – the present challenges that students and workers face with ‘remote learning’, the successes and failures of the Administration’s COVID-19 strategy, and how we can work together to democratically shape the future of the University.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SFU abruptly transitioned to a ‘remote learning’ model in March, moving all instruction online. While SFU Admin was quick to roll out some relief measures, they have been slow to acknowledge the widespread expressions of distress from students and workers caused by the transformation of their University. On May 30, it was revealed that ‘remote learning’ will likely continue through to the Spring 2021 semester.
SFSS and C19C asks the SFU community: How has ‘remote learning’ affected your lives and well-being? How would you like to see ‘remote learning’ change to address your needs as students and workers? And how can we achieve these changes together?
Panelists include representatives from SFSS, C19C, the Graduate Student Society (GSS), the Teaching Support Staff Union (TSSU), and Tuition Freeze Now (TFN).
The C19C town hall begins with a brief report from each panelist, followed by an open discussion that invited live participation from viewers at:
