THE COLD TO GET EVEN COLDER
SLICK ROADWAYS in spots will be the main concern as we head out the door. Yesterday's wet roadways combined with these freezing temperatures to start the day may make driving a challenge in spots. Keep a heads up if you plan on heading onto bridges and exit ramps as they are most prone to some patchy black ice.
The deepening low pressure system responsible for these blustery winter wind gusts this morning will swiftly spin its wheels off the the north during the day. Winds will show signs of easing up as skies begin to improve as early as this morning. Temperatures starting around l20s this morning will manage their way into the 30s by this afternoon. However, the downward trend in temperatures continue.
We'll open the door to our north much wider this weekend sending down even colder temperatures across the area in the days to follow. Its still anticipated that the unseasonably-cold blocking pattern that we have been so familiar with throughout this winter season is setting itself up once again and will remain so through all of next week.
After seeing highs in the low to mid 20s this weekend comes mid to upper teens through the first half of next week. Afterwards, colder still, with temperatures likely not even getting out of the single digits both Thursday and Friday in some hometowns.
So, the cold will make the headlines during this period instead of any serious accumulating snow. I can only see two passing snow showers, with the first late tonight and another expected on Sunday. I always like looking ahead for that next possible wintry mess and I believe that could arrive (basing it on a trend) by the following weekend. Stay tuned!
