Both of these sharpeners are amazing. They've last quite some time because I've had them both for 3 years, I'm more surprised that the xacto quite lasted this long because most people said that it doesn't last long. As far as performance, the quiet does better than the xlr. It's faster, quieter, makes really sharp clean points, and the tray doesn't pop out like the xlr. I really like how the quiet has two blades instead of one like the xlr because, it would decreased sharpening time, and make better points. The xlr is still good, but it does have some flaws like the tray popping out, and making short stubby points.
