October 8th, 2011: Occupy Wall Street protesters marched from Liberty Square to Washington Square to hold a special general assembly focused on teaching members of the community how the process of direct democracy at Liberty Square functions. Thousands participated as volunteers gave teach-in's and members from each working group explained their role in the park and how to get involved to help. Meanwhile on Wall St. occupiers organized an art gallery show with local artists and musicians.
