STORYLINE
Hundreds of Libyans gathered in Tripoli old town on Thursday to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, a national holiday known as Prophet's Day.
Muslims in Tripoli, and around the world, have celebrated this day for hundreds of years, gathering to celebrate, sing religious songs and pray to their Prophet.
People travelled great distances to celebrate.
Imam Mohamed Omar Badi came from the city of Misrata, about 250 kilometres (155 miles) away, to join in the celebrations.
"The atmosphere is one of great joy and celebration, thanks be to God, and Happy Prophet's Day," Imam Mohamed said.
