Somalia officially became the 8th member of the East African Community after 148 out of 150 lawmakers voted on Saturday in favor of the accession treaty. The Horn of Africa nation had been given by the EAC secretariat to ratify its membership, after President Sheikh Hassan Mohamud signed the Treaty of Accession in late November.
