We're hunting rabbets -- or rebates as they're also known. This is a basic introduction to rabbet planes, how to set them up and use them. If you're new to woodworking, a rabbet joint is a recess at the edge of a board. It's used in furniture making and cabinetry. There are lots of ways to make a rabbet joint. Using a wooden plane takes some practice but in the end it's a pretty fast technique.
