Zappori (Tsippori) was once the capital of Galilee, and thrived during the Roman and Bysantine periods. It still contains beautiful mosaics, remnants from 65 BCE until 3 CE. It is believed that Mary's parents Joachim and Anne lived here and during the 2nd Century, the Sanhedrin was transferred to the city. The mosaics give a glimpse of a beautiful city from the past.
