Cancer is one of the country's leading killers. Early detection and the right treatment are among the best weapons in the fight against cancer. The sad reality, however, is that many people don’t have an equal chance of fighting cancer due to systemic barriers and health disparities related to factors such as ethnicity, race and even the location where they live.
Mayo Clinic is working to eliminate these barriers with a strategic approach to advance health equity and better meet the needs of each person.
As World Cancer Day is recognized on Feb. 4, Dr. Rick Bold, a site deputy director with Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, discusses three target areas where Mayo is committed to closing the gaps in cancer care.
