Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau conducted an investigation into allegations of lewd acts upon a child. Pursuant to this investigation, suspect Paul Gonzales (age 53) was arrested on December 29, 2017.
On January 3, 2018, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed eight (8) felony counts against suspect Gonzales, four of which are for Lewd Acts upon a Child, 288(a) PC.
Suspect Gonzales is an employee for the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department, where he has worked as the head boxing coach at the “Eddie Heredia Boxing Club” in East Los Angeles for the past 10 years. Suspect Gonzales represented the United States in the 1984 Olympic Games in boxing.
Suspect Gonzales is currently in custody at the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 18, 2018, in Division 30 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
