Today we want to show you how our designers created an impressive and eye-grabbing cover for M. W. Arita’s YA urban fantasy Lightning Princess 🤩
✨ First of all, we needed to create the image of the main character. Several images were used to compose the final version of the heroine. This part of cover design process was the most time-consuming since it involved a lot of cropping and fitting all elements together to ensure the body looks natural.
✨ We also changed the color of the girl’s attire and slightly improved her appearance to ensure her image corresponds with the heroine’s description in the book.
✨ Next, we moved on to designing the background: since the events of the book take place in an academy, we picked the image of an old mansion and added gates to reinforce the association with an official institution. We also changed the color of the background to turn the day into night.
✨ Finally, we added flashes of lightning, one of the key elements of the story, and used visual effects to add light and shadow and make the electric strikes seem natural and realistic. Then the cover was retouched to ensure the image has a catchy color scheme and looks coherent, impressive, and memorable 🙌
