Instructions:
Magic Ring: Start with a magic ring. Chain 3 and then crochet 12 double crochet stitches into the ring. Slip stitch into the top of the first chain to join. Pull the middle tightly and weave in the end. (12 stitches at the end of the round)
Increase Round: Chain 3, and a double crochet into the first stitch, and then crochet 2 double crochet stitches into each stitch around (24 stitches total).
Continued Increase: In the next round: Chain 3, and a double crochet into the first stitch, and then double crochet into the next. Continue to increase into every other stitch by crocheting 2 double crochet stitches into the first stitch and 1 double crochet into the next stitch. Repeat around (36 stitches total).
Establish Base: Crochet one round of double crochet stitches without increasing or decreasing. This creates the base of the bag.
Begin Dragon Scale Pattern:
Begin with a slip stitch into the first stitch. Chain 3 (counts as 1 double crochet), then work 1 double crochet into the same stitch. Chain 1, skip 2 stitches, then work 1 double crochet into the next stitch. Chain 1. Repeat the pattern skip 2 stitches, work 2 double crochets into the next stitch, chain 1, skip 2 stitches, work 1 double crochet into the next stitch, chain 1 around. Slip stitch into the 3rd chain to join.
Start by working 5 double crochets around the first double crochet post from the previous round. Then, chain 3. Work 5 double crochets into the next double crochet post. Slip stitch into the next double crochet stitch. Repeat this pattern around to complete the crocodile scales
Chain 3 (counts as 1 double crochet), then work 1 double crochet into the same stitch. Chain 1. Work 1 double crochet into the middle part of the scale, chain 1. Then work 2 double crochets into the slip stitch from the previous round, chain 1. Repeat this pattern around. Slip stitch to join.
Similar to Round 7, start by working 5 double crochets around the first double crochet post from the previous round.
Repeat Rounds 7 and 8 for the desired length of your bag.
