Rodney Price (aka Bounty Killa) was born in Kingston on June 12, 1972. His family subsequently settled in Seaview Gardens. Through witnessing the excitement of his father's sound system he became inspired to perform inna DJ style. However, by his teens he was unfortunately hit by a ricocheted bullet from a rival gang battle, mercifully he made a full recovery and became known as Bounty Hunter. He later performed on sound systems such as Metromedia, Bodyguard, and Stereo One. This led him catching a break in Lucia Avenue where he met King Jammy's brother Trevor (Uncle T) James who produced his recording debut, `Figuree'
Still working alongside Uncle T, as Bounty Killer, they recorded, `Dub Fi Dub' that became a huge hit in the dancehall. He followed with a slew of hits including `Copper Shot' and `New Gun (Jammys),' `Lodge (John John)' and `Guns Out (Gussie).' Many of them appeared on his album debut, `Roots Reality And Culture' aka `Jamaica's Most Wanted'. It was around this time that his feud with Beenie Man first flared up in a DJ clash that resulted in the release of a clash album, `Face To Face' aka `Guns Out'.
Further hits include, `Down in the Ghetto',`Cellular Phone' and `Smoke the Herb'. He later released the classic album `My Xperience' that featured earlier hits and new material with combinations from artists as diverse as the Fugees, Jerue The Damager, Junior Reid, Beenie Man and Dennis Brown, followed by `My Experience Chapter Two'. He continues to enjoy enormous popularity in the 21st Century and here performs his hit, `Talk To Dem' (aka Anger Management) for filmmaker Jerome Lapperousaz.
