The Piazza del Duomo is one of the most breathtaking "town squares" in all of Europe. It's the most visited in Florence, certainly. Not only do you have the wedding cake-like Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, but you also have the medieval Baptistry of St. John, once believed to have been the site of a Roman temple dedicated to Mars, the god of Old Florence, and Brunelleschi's engineering and architectural masterpiece, the Duomo. It's a mountain of eye candy in one, intimate piazza. Watch this video as we stroll through on our way to our accommodation.
