Climate activists from campaign group Futuro Vegetal poured syrup and beet juice on display cases housing Egyptian artifacts in Barcelona’s Egyptian Museum on November 13 in protest of the COP27 Climate Conference taking place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. After dumping the substance, which was notably held in Coca-Cola bottles as a nod to the world’s largest plastic polluter sponsoring the conference, the activists glued their hands to the wall and held up a banner that read, ‘+2.5° - Climate Justice - COPca Cola.’ One of the activists said, ‘We are going through climate collapse, we need to act now. Politicians will not save us from this situation of climate emergency. We need to act.’
