STORYLINE:
Muslims in Jakarta performed an evening prayer on Sunday as Indonesia marked the start of Ramadan.
Thousands of Indonesian Muslims flocked to the Istiqlal Mosque in the capital city for Taraweeh prayer, a special prayer session performed only during the holy month.
Ramadan began on Sunday evening, after the sighting of the crescent moon, indicating the beginning of a new lunar month.
