We had the opportunity to embark on the Studio Tour, where we journeyed past the renowned Courthouse Square, made famous by the beloved film "Back to the Future."
Courthouse Square is a critical location in the "Back to the Future" film trilogy. It serves as the central town square of Hill Valley, the fictional town where the story takes place. The square features the iconic Hill Valley Courthouse and Clock Tower, which become significant elements of the film's plot.
In the first film, released in 1985, Courthouse Square represents the town's hub of activity. It is where the DeLorean time machine, invented by Doc Brown (played by Christopher Lloyd), is first tested. The film's climax occurs at the square during the "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance, where Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) strives to ensure his parents' romantic encounter to secure his existence in the future.
Throughout the trilogy, Courthouse Square undergoes various transformations as the story jumps between different periods. The square is shown in the 1950s, 1980s, and the futuristic 2015. The iconic Clock Tower, with its memorable face and lightning rod, becomes a crucial element in the films, as it is struck by lightning in the first film, providing the necessary 1.21 gigawatts of power to send the DeLorean back to the future.
