On Monday, the first of several observances this week to honor the life of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter will take place.

A motorcade will travel to Atlanta and she will lie in repose at the Carter Center Monday evening, the Carter Center announced on Sunday.

The motorcade procession will take place on Monday and begin at 10:25 a.m. Here is the full procession route:

10:25 a.m.: The Carter family motorcade will arrive at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. Mrs. Carter’s remains will be transferred to a hearse, accompanied by past and present members of her U.S. Secret Service detail.
10:40 a.m.: The motorcade will depart the grounds of the medical center on a public route to Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia. The public is then invited to pay respects along the motorcade route.
11 a.m.: The motorcade arrives at the Rosalynn Carter Health and Human Sciences Complex at Georgia Southwestern State University, where wreaths will be laid in her honor.
11:15 a.m.: The motorcade departs for The Carter Presidential Center in Atlanta.
3:15 p.m.: There will be a private arrival ceremony at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta.
3:30 p.m.: There will be a private repose service in lobby of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum for library, museum and Carter Center staff.
6-10 p.m.: The Carter family invites members of the public to pay their respects as Mrs. Carter lies in repose at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. Parking and a shuttle will be available at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church -- located at 435 Peachtree St. NE.

The Carter Center adds the following information:

Shuttle bus passengers will be dropped off on northbound Freedom Parkway close to the museum. This is also where visitors who arrive on foot will enter.

Visitors are subject to search upon entry into the Carter Presidential Center. Prohibited items must be surrendered and will not be returned. Backpacks, bags, purses, clutches, and camera bags are prohibited on the bus. Diaper bags are allowed and will be searched by hand. The following items are prohibited: aerosols; ammunition; animals other than service animals; bicycles; balloons; coolers; drones and other unmanned aircraft systems; explosives; firearms; glass; thermal or metal containers; laser pointers; Mace or pepper spray; packages; selfie sticks; toy guns; weapons of any kind; any other items determined to be potential safety hazards.


In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Carter requested that donations be made to the Carter Center Mental Health Program or the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers. In Atlanta, those who wish to give flowers may lay them in front of the large granite-and-steel sign at the main entrance to the Carter Presidential Center. In Plains, flowers may be left near the Jimmy Carter Monument downtown.

Condolence books will be available to sign at GSW, the Plains Welcome Center, Plains High School and in Atlanta at the Carter Presidential Center.
