Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords Of Hurricane. I've had a few requests to feature some of Hurricane's music, but to be honest, I decided to run with this lesson, as it's been on the back burner since last summer when Hurricane announced a new album last August - so let's dive in!
Hurricane formed in LA in 1984 and originally featured Robert Sarzo (Rudy Sarzo's brother) and Tony Cavazo (Carlos Cavazo's brother) - so it's a real brotherhood of rock, thing. The group found success by the middle of the decade following the release of their second album Over The Edge. The song 'I'm On To You' had moderate success on MTV and rock radio stations, but the band wasn't a massive success compared to some of their peers, like Bon Jovi or Whitesnake (for example).
The chord-based and rhythm guitar examples in this lesson were pulled from three Hurricane albums (including the album featuring Doug Aldrich on guitar), and include sections from songs such Over The Edge, 10,000 Years, Shout, Hurricane, Baby Snakes, Temptation, and more!
Needless to say, if you're a Hurricane fan, a fan of 1980s hard rock guitar music, a player searching for some slick chord moves to study/borrow, or maybe you're just curious what all the fuss is about - this lesson is totally for you!
