Amid violent protests in many parts of the Northeast, the Centre has deployed army in Tripura and Assam as the Rajya Sabha debates the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill, multiple reports said on Wednesday. NDTV reported that two columns of the army have been dispatched to the Kanchanpur and Manu, while a third has been sent to Bongaingon in Assam. A report said that the Home Ministry has cancelled the order of induction of seven CRPF companies to Manipur and moved them to Assam. Meanwhile, the Central has also started withdrawing paramilitary forces from Jammu and Kashmir and they will be moved to Assam in special trains.
