The French president, Emmanuel Macron, said he would dissolve France's parliament and call new legislative elections after his centrist list was beaten in EU elections by Marine Le Pen's far-right party. 'I cannot pretend as if nothing happened,' said Macron, acknowledging the results were a disaster for his government.
