The late Bank Holiday weekend in May saw the Isle of Wight Steam Railway host a special Gala, to mark the official relaunch of LMS Ivatt 2MT No. 41298 into traffic, following major restoration at Havenstreet. The original plan was for GWR Small Prairie No. 5521 (Running in London Transport guise as L150) to make the trip across the Solent, however the loco was unavailable and the visit was subsequently cancelled. As a result, the event would focus on the home fleet, which would also include LSWR O2 No. W24 'Calbourne' and LBSCR Terriers Nos. W8 'Freshwater' and W11 'Newport', with the former also returning to traffic following repairs. The two 'Terriers' would be used for shunting displays within the station limits at Havenstreet, whilst 41298 and W24 would handle the full line services.
The lineup for the event:
- LBSCR A1X Terrier 0-6-0T No. W8 'Freshwater'
- LBSCR A1X Terrier 0-6-0T No. W11 'Newport'
- LMS Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T No. 41298
- LSWR O2 0-4-4T No. W24 'Calbourne'
All scenes were captured on Sunday 29th May 2016.
