One of the old BR class 508's no 508122 stood in platform 2 waiting to depart with the next service to Hunts Cross while in the siding opposite platform one we see two of BR's new class 777's. The unit closest to the buffer stops was 777013 and the unit furthest away is 777003. As of 10th Nov 2022 these unit's are still being tested and haven't yet entered passenger service. It's looking very unlikely that were gonna be seeing them in passenger services working into or from Southport this year at the present rate.
The 777's are intended to replace the older 507 & 508 units which are now over 40 years old and are long overdue for replacement by newer stock.
