How to Make Guacamole
Time to bring the molcajete back to life with these three guacamole recipes! Prepared with avocado, serrano chile, onion, and cilantro, guacamole makes the perfect snack for any Cinco de Mayo or Mexican Independence Day fiesta. Learn to make a cheesy guacamole, a fiery Habanero guacamole or a fruity tropical guac!
Ingredients:
¼ onion
1 clove garlic, peeled
1 tablespoon coarse salt
¼ cup lime juice, seeded
6 avocados, pitted, ripe
½ bunch cilantro, chopped
2 árbol chiles, fresh, cut into round slices
1 cup tomatoes, cut into small-sized cubes
1/2 cup Cotija cheese, shredded
2 Habanero chiles, cut into round slices
½ cup red onion, pickled
peppermint, finely chopped
1 cup plantain, fried
1/2 cup pineapple, cut into cubes
Preparation:
For the guacamole: In a molcajete crush onion, garlic, coarse salt, and lime juice to a purée. Add avocado and mix until perfectly incorporated. Add chopped cilantro and mix with a spoon.
For the cheesy guacamole: Add fresh árbol chile and mix. Top with tomato and Cotija cheese.
For the Habanero guacamole: Add Habanero chiles and combine with previous mixture and top with pickled onions.
For the tropical guacamole: Add peppermint and mix. Top with plantain and pineapple cubes.
