A comparison between acceleration of 2 legendary EMU classes in Mumbai. DC rakes from the past & the modern Siemens rakes. The DC EMUs use traditional DC traction motors with simple electrical circuitry to control the traction motors. Siemens EMUs on the other hand use advanced 3 phase AC traction system, with state of the art IGBT based electronics to provide a much better control over the performance. Nevertheless both these types have a special place in the minds & hearts of railfans!
