ASP PRESENTS:
The Springfield Armory M1A Rifle on the 100 yard firing line. Does the M1A Rifle still have what it takes to keep up with today's modern rifles?
The M1A is the civilian version of the M-14 Rifle. The M1A Rifle does not have full automatic capability like the M-14. The M1A Rifle retains all the qualities of the M-14 minus the full auto capability. The design and function harks back to the venerable M1 Garand Rifle after World War 2 and the Korean War. M-14 Rifle is the upgraded version of the Garand rifle. Despite the M-14 Rifle being replaced by the lighter M-16 Rifle during Vietnam, the M-14 Rifle has been still used by regular and special operations forces today as a Designated Marksmanship Rifle (DMR).
The M1A Rifle in the video is NJ compliant and takes either 10 round or 15 round magazines. The M1A and M-14 Rifles fire the 7.62x51 NATO cartridge.
