Welcome to our informative training video on HSG Interpretation Tips & Tricks.
HSG, or Hysterosalpingography, is a diagnostic imaging test used to assess the fertility potential of women. Interpreting the results of an HSG can be challenging, but with the right tips and tricks, it is possible to obtain accurate and reliable information to guide the management of infertility.
In this video, we will discuss on HSG (Hysterosalpingography) and share interpretation tips and tricks.

HSG is a commonly used test to assess the fertility potential of women. It involves the use of X-rays to visualize the uterus and fallopian tubes.
It helps identify the causes of infertility such as
• tubal blockages,
• polyps,
• fibroids, and
• adhesions.

𝟏. 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐱
• It is the blockage and dilation of the fallopian tubes due to inflammation or scarring.
• It is commonly caused by infections, tuberculosis, or endometriosis.
• Hydrosalpinx can affect the success rates of fertility treatments such as IVF
• Tubal clipping can be performed to improve the outcomes of IVF.
𝟐. 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
It is the unintentional entry of the contrast medium into the bloodstream leading to serious complications.
Intravasation can be avoided by using
• a lower pressure injection technique
• a smaller volume of contrast medium, and
• injecting the contrast medium slowly.
𝟑. 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐝𝐬
• They are noncancerous growths that can occur in the uterus and can affect fertility.
• HSG can be used to diagnose the presence of polyps and fibroids in the uterus.
• The use of saline infusion sonography (SIS) can also help identify the location and extent of these growths.

𝟏. 𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐞𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞
A technique used to clear the blocked fallopian tubes during HSG.
It involves the injection of a mixture of
• Saline
• heparin, and
• recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) into the fallopian tubes to dissolve the blockages. TubeBlochope is a relatively new technique and is still being evaluated for its efficacy.
𝟐. 𝟒𝐒𝐆
It is a new technique used in HSG.
• It involves the injection of a special contrast medium that can visualize the smaller tubal branches.
• This technique is still being evaluated for its efficacy
• It shown promising results in identifying tubal blockages in women with unexplained infertility.
HSG is a crucial diagnostic tool in infertility that helps identify the causes of infertility such as tubal blockages, polyps, fibroids, and adhesions. With the use of advanced interpretation tips and tricks, HSG can provide valuable information to help guide the management of infertility.
