Change your mood by changing your thoughts. Train yourself to focus on the positive in any situation. Negative thoughts breed negative thoughts. Positive thoughts breed positive thoughts, and help elevate mood and outlook. Become an optimist. Learn the art of the Cognitive Reframe. Reframe your negative thoughts.
Cognitive reframing is the basis of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT.
Everyone one has a boiling point for their stress level. Some have a higher point than others, but we all have one. Reframing isn't a coping tool to change your emotions from bad to good (although it can), it is a skill to keep your stress (depression, anger, frustration, sadness) beneath its boiling point. Subtle changes in emotional reactivity can make a huge difference.
Many negative thoughts stem from our inner critical voice, sometimes called our Critical Parent. Gently responding to the Critical Parent is an effected use of the reframe tool.
