More than a year has passed since the onset of COVID-19. The pandemic has presented a myriad of challenges and opportunities, some short-term and transitory, some leading to structural changes. In this webinar, we will reflect on the experience of some Asian economies in the past year and discuss the recovery path. Sectoral dynamics projected for Hong Kong and Singapore at the beginning of the pandemic provide an interesting contrast one year later. Taiwan economy stands out as a very interesting case of resilience and we examine factors of this resilience. We also explore the role of the China-ASEAN production network in propagating the pandemic impact across the region and the effect of the pandemic on FDI. Our panel will discuss the opportunities and economic adjustments in the region going forward under the 'New Normal'.
