As part of the development of its ice and snow economy, China is advancing the manufacturing of ski gear, ski lifts, snow making machines and other related items.
Sales revenues of winter sports equipment in the country have grown from about 680 million U.S. dollars in the year 2015 to about three billion in 2023.
At a gear shop at a resort in northeast China's Jilin City, the store manager said goggles made specifically for Asian skiers are selling well.
Beyond wearables, Chinese companies are also making cable cars, chair lifts and snowmaking machines.
For the past three years, the resort has expanded its number of slopes from 27 to 74, and the number of cable-car lifts from seven to 13, with 85 percent of them made in China.
According to information from the General Office of the State Council, China aims to boost the scale of its ice and snow economy to roughly 200 billion U.S. dollars by the year 2030.
