The Iceland National Team didn’t see any success in international football for the first 80+ years of their existence as they didn’t qualify for a World Cup or a Euro, but in the early 2000s they started investing the time and money into changing that. They started building indoor facilities so players could train all year round, and they started providing UEFA A & B coaching licenses in the country, so all coaches would be highly & properly trained to coach.
Then, Iceland made history as they qualified for the 2016 Euros and then went on to advance to the Quarterfinals as they beat England in the Round of 16. Furthermore, they went onto qualify for the 2018 World Cup, but unfortunately didn’t make it out of the group stage.
