We need to talk PAINT BRUSHES for mixed media art. Did you know the artist brushes you choose can affect the outcome of your work? They can actually make or break your art!

There are SO many types of paint brushes on the market today. When it comes to mixed media painting, and selecting which brush to use, we need to answer one question: How will the art supplies we're using react with water?

👉For the mixed media supplies that DON'T mix well with water (think acrylic paint) - it's best to use acrylic brushes. I do acrylic painting in the mixed media portraits I create with my hamburger layering system! Sometimes I also use gesso. If you plan to use gesso, I suggest you set aside one of your flat, inexpensive acrylic paint brushes so it becomes your "gesso brush." Check out the video to see WHY!

👉When I'm doing mixed media watercolor, or mixed media projects with other supplies that DO dissolve when water is added (think watercolor pencils or my favorite black stabilo all pencil), I reach for my watercolor brushes because I need something super absorbent to move that gorgeous pigment around!!

🙋HAVING A HARD TIME BLENDING or SHADING in acrylics or watercolor?
Consider changing up your paint brushes! THAT may be the problem, NOT YOU!
