Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on the federal budget for 2025 and the planning period of 2026-2027.
Defense budget is $28 billion (three trillion rubles) higher than the previous record set this year, a massive increment regarding previous period.
Putin held a meeting at the Kremlin with Leader of New People party Alexei Nechayev
The discussion focused on the draft federal budget for 2025–2027. Alexei Nechayev put forward for the President his party's proposals for increasing the budget income.
Alexei Nechayev says this “Eighteen months ago, we discussed smart protectionism. I remember that you supported this idea. Thanks to the duties introduced for unfriendly countries – which existed before, but were small, at just six percent – we have raised them to 35 percent for a whole range of goods, specifically for these imported items. Together, we discussed whether prices would go up. We can see now that the answer is no: prices did not go up as a result of this.
