The Hardy Boys (or The Hardy Boys Mystery Stories) is a mystery book series for children and teens. Originally published in 1927, the series revolves around teenage brothers Frank and Joe Hardy, who are amateur detectives solving cases that stumped their adult counterparts. The characters were created by Edward Stratemeyer and the books themselves were written by several ghostwriters (most notably Leslie McFarlane) under the collective pseudonym Franklin W. Dixon
