“Ireland” is part of an underground, nation-wide network which sources and distributes abortion pills to women who need them.
In June 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, opening the door for states to ban abortion outright.
Currently, abortion is illegal in 13 US states.
Dateline reporter Calliste Weitenberg interviewed a woman called “Ireland” who, on the day Roe vs Wade was overturned, decided to risk everything to subvert her state’s ban.
Despite her actions being against federal law, “Ireland” says she feels compelled to help women who say they have no other option.
