Today is the feast day of Saint Clare of Assisi. She is the founder of the Poor Clares and gave up her worldly possessions in order to serve God and others. There are now over 20,000 sisters in the Order of Poor Clares around the world. St. Clare has had an especially profound impact on EWTN, as our founder Mother Angelica was a member of the order. Father Jonathan St. Andre, Vice President of Franciscan Life at Franciscan University of Steubenville, joins to tell us about St. Clare of Assisi, who she was and how she met St. Francis of Assisi. Fr. Jonathan explains why St. Clare is often depicted holding the vessel containing the Blessed Sacrament. He also discusses why she is the patron saint of television.
