Parliament continued to witness disruptions over the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, in which eight people were killed, as opposition parties demanded the removal of Union minister of state for home affairs Ajay Mishra 'Teni'. The opposition parties have been targeting Mishra since the incident took place on October 3, but their demand picked up steam after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the violence termed it "a pre-planned conspiracy."
Meanwhile, the Centre is unlikely to take any action against MoS Home Ajay Misra Teni, sources told India Today.
According to sources, the view within the government and ruling BJP is that the SIT report, which claimed that the Lakhimpur incident was a "planned conspiracy to murder protesting farmers", is not the final word in the case. There is also a view within the government that the case pertains to Ajay Misra's son, Ashish, and not him, sources said.
