Digital technology in health care has great potential and we’re increasingly seeing a range of technologies being used to good effect across the UK. However, experience shows that adopting and spreading these technologies is often challenging and there are many factors that require careful consideration if they are to be successfully implemented.
In this livestreamed session we examine three successful digital technology projects: a project that developed an app to monitor hypertension in pregnancy (HaMpton) led by St George’s University Hospitals Trust, a project that is scaling up virtual outpatient consultations led by Barts Health NHS Trust, and a project to improve access to health care for people in rural Scotland led by NHS Highland. Hear from the project leads about their experiences of implementing digital technology in the health care system, including the challenges they faced and how they overcame them.
We explore the importance of quality improvement principles and system change ideas and methods in the successful implementation of technology and provide practical advice for anyone running or planning a digital technology project in their own organisation.
