Canal Rocks is an amazing natural place in Yallingup, Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, Margaret River region of Western Australia.
The "Canal Rocks" takes its name from the fact that Indian Ocean has carved channels into the rocks of the headland. Hence, making a network of several patchy islands. This also paints a beautiful scene to observe sunset.
A wooden boardwalk has been constructed to connect one of such island with the mainland. These "Canals" made by shear force of ocean waves can be observed from the boardwalk. This footbridge takes you around the North side of the rocks and brings you face-to-face with the canal.
The bridge ends on rocky island which you are free to walk and climb over.
We saw people jumping off the bridge into the canal. One must be careful as surges and strong currents are frequent.
There are no trees/shades in this area, so don't forget to bring along sun caps and plenty of sun screen.
The place is ~3 hrs drive from Perth and has ample of free parking, toilet and a public boat ramp.
