In computer vision, Fiducial's are known objects that act as a point of reference, typically an easily detected pattern. ARToolkit popularized fiducials for use in augmented reality and chessboard patterns are often used to calibrate cameras. BoofCV supports several different types of Fiducials. An overview of these different types of fiducials is presented in this video. It shows how fiducials can be used to estimate the camera's position and be uniquely tagged.
